“Instrument” — A vessel with soul — clavichord

Instrument-making begins by observing the wood.
It is a process of reliving the wisdom handed down since ancient times, and re-editing it through one’s own senses. A musical instrument is a vessel that holds human intent — a medium that can remain for centuries. When the heart enters an empty box, the instrument is given purpose and the power to resonate.

“Tuning” — The art of the universe

Through piano tuning, I encountered the principles of sound and experienced the laws of the universe. Natural overtones, beats, and frequencies arise in countless combinations under nature’s order. We’ve labeled these sounds — car engines, birdsong — and come to call them “sound.”
Tuning allows me to face pure sound, before it becomes filtered by my perception. These tangible natural laws are a form of truth — a compass that guides my wandering heart toward balance. By deeply engaging with these unwavering principles called “sound,” I was transformed — not the one tuning, but the one being tuned. My spirit and body were brought into harmony.

“Music” — Spirit of language

Sound, being invisible, has the power to permeate and stir both light and shadow within the heart of both performer and listener.
Because it can be a potent force, I place great importance on emptying myself and letting the sound be offered to the space. In that openness, the listener is invited into a spacious world of freedom and imagination.

A musical performance should be a time of peace — a state of liberated consciousness. A space where weapons, power, race, and ideology are abandoned, and all stand as equals. Like a Japanese tea room — a quiet sanctuary born from simplicity and equality.
