The Process
仏師になりたかった私にとって 、クラヴィコード製作は祈りの旅である。
木材部分の製材、仕上げに加え、金属部分の叩き、整形、磨き上げを一つづつ手作業で行い、 1000を超えるパーツを組み上げていきます。 時には立ち止まり、どうすればもっと響きを豊かにできて、もっと良い鍵盤の連動性を得られるかを考えます。
納得いくまで作業をやり直して修正を加え続け、約一年をかけて完成に辿り着きます。
For someone like me who once aspired to be a Buddhist sculptor, building a clavichord is a journey of prayer.
From cutting and finishing the wood, to shaping and polishing the metal parts, each step is done by hand—over a thousand components assembled one by one. At times, I pause to reflect on how to deepen the resonance, how to improve the responsiveness of the keys.
I repeat the process, correcting and refining, until it feels right. It takes about a year to reach completion.
